Jesus died so that we might be at peace with God, so that we might know that nothing can come between us and God’s blessing and goodness. God will not change His mind. God will not turn away from His own. God will keep His word because God is faithful even though we are not.
And this meal is that promise. This bread and this wine are God’s promises to you that He remembers You, and that Jesus is Your Great High Priest who is able to save to the uttermost because He always lives to make intercession for you.
After the flood, God promised never to destroy the world again, and put a rainbow in the sky as a permanent pledge to Noah and all humanity of His word. But in Jesus God has give us this new sign, this new pledge. This bread broken, this wine poured out is the body and blood of Jesus, God’s promise that your sins are forgiven because they have been paid for, that you belong to God and Satan and his powers have been broken and you are set free.
Your past does not hold you. Your failures do not imprison you. Your weakness cannot hold you back, because Jesus has made you right with God.
